A Sioux Falls Brazilian restaurant is adding seating by installing a removable glass enclosure over its patio.
Todd Burns, general manager of Carnaval Brazilian Grill at 2401 S. Carolyn Ave., said the glass walls and roof, called a Cabreeze, will add four-season outside dining at the restaurant, which is known for its unique experiences, including live music and wait staff bringing meat to tables on skewers.
“Think about sitting out on the patio in a snowstorm in December,” he said.
Diners will be warm but have the opportunity to feel that they are part of the outdoors. In nice weather the enclosure, which should be installed by early October, will be open.
The next closest example of the Cabreeze is at McGovern’s Pub in St. Paul, Burns said.
“It’s extremely interesting. Nobody in the area has anything or has seen anything like it,” he said.
He first saw the concept three years ago and realized it was an expansion solution without having to add on to the restaurant.
“Our business has increased to the point where we needed to figure out what to do to get more tables inside,” Burnes said.
The restaurant seats about 220 customers, and the enclosure will allow another 60 or more inside chairs.
